I am taking a beginning fly fishing class taught by a professional guide. He suggested tying your own leader, going from a 06x butt down to a 4x tippet. The thought is it is stronger, lays the fly down smoother, and costs less. The fly outfit I bought (Cortland) has a one piece leader tapering down to a 4x tippet. Any suggestions of which one is really best? This rookie appreciates all I have learned from this board! [
