Tiger trout report
#29
I think you are right, at least in Causey. Splake seem to do OK in lakes like Fish Lake and a few others but the tigers seem to do good in most lakes they are stocked. For sure the Tigers are more aggressive but at the size they are stocked, they must be occupying different niches. I wonder what the different food sources are that they could be using at that size to make such a difference? Twenty years ago before the DWR started stocking kokes and splake the biggest fish were browns and cuttbows. We use to regularly catch fish that were two to four pounds while
trolling. Once the kokes and then the splake were stocked that all changed and for years now we have not caught any fish while trolling. We finally gave up on trolling Causey during the spring and summer. It was a hassle to carry a boat down to the water but the scenery and the nice fish made it worth it. I sure hope that will change now that tigers are in Causey, we have caught them in Huntington while trolling and they are a blast.
