You can request it from them. I fished on Friday up there with the manager and two biologists and we did discuss it a little. They have not seen any splake of any size in their nets. The thought is basically that the splake do not have enough food when small (plankton) to reach a point that they can transition over to fish as food. I'm sure there are exceptions, but that is the general rule. Interestingly, the same problem does not seem to be plaguing the tigers. Fingerlings stocked last year are now as long as 14 inches and ready to transition. With the number of six inch splake in there and a fairly strong kokanee population, you may see some very large tigers come out of there in a couple of years.
My thought is still that it is intraspecific competition. Why can the tigers grow quickly but not the splake? Are they occupying different niches? Utilizing different food sources? I could be completely wrong as I definitely do not have all of the information.
