there are only two places that i know of where a person could go to have a very good chance at hooking into one of these gars . one is the backwaters at flatrock , the average size is around 24" . the second is in lake erie out behind the cole power plant in monroe . the average size is 3 to 5+ feet in length .
truley these fish are an underappreaciated adversary in the fishing world . it takes a lot of patience , skill and knowhow combined with a bit of good fortune to land one of these fish with a rod and reel . even those of us that bowfish concider this fish to be a prised specimine worthey of bragging about .
