OT- Questions about Utah - OT
#23
I moved to Salt Lake County nearly 10 years ago from Orange County

and I lived in the Bay Area for about 10 years also. I've been trying to get

out for the last 3 years. I think someone needs to be pretty darn sure they're

willing to deal with the crappy weather both in the summer (hot and blowy) and the

winter (smog filled inversions).

Cache Valley IMO is miserable in the winter. But on a more positive note if you

want a piece of ground and don't mind the strange politics and psuedo theocracy

then Utah may be good for you. I wouldn't expect a whole lot from Utah schools

either as they have the lowest per student expenditures in the country. Yet Utahs taxes

are higher than Californias (I think Utah is ranked 9th highest nationally and California

is in mid teens 17 I think).

Utah does have a lot going for it as far as natural

beauty and outdoor activities which I love but give me the fresh ocean

air any day. To me I would say i enjoy the weather hear from March through the end of May and from September

through November the rest of the time it stinks. Yeah... I know I'm a wimpy California boy![Smile]
