Northern Pike at Utah Lake AF Harbor
#3
If you are referring to the Pelican Point Marina, it has a huge outlet in the North West Corner where water is let out ( pump I believe). The bottom of Utah Lake is so fluid that any outlet to the lake acts as a vacuum for the silt. So as water runs out of the lake through the culvert, it sucks silt from the main lake with it. AF learned this back in the mid 80's. They purchased a dredge to dredge AF harbor, but all they did was suck silt from the main lake into the harbor. Provo Harbor has this same problem ! They dredge the channel along the north jetty to provide a boat channel from the inner harbor out to the lake. That channel has to be dredged every 8 years or so as the silt from the main lake flows in to the harbor and fills the channel up. Main reason why all these idiots who want to dredge the lake and build islands are so full of bovine scatology. The lake will flow into the hole they dig faster than they can dig it !!!
