Garmin owns Lowrance now !! All the new technology will be introduced in the Garmin line, then filter down to Lowrance eventually. Some things will come out in the Lowrance line as they work the bugs out, i.e. the Lowrance trolling motor. Garmin's new multi-voltage motor is a clone on the inside of the Lowrance motor. Garmin had the live scope stuff going before they bought Lowrance. I have read a bunch about the live scope technology and don't really see where it would be that advantageous here. Most of our fishing is open water. It might help locating schools of fish, but with them roaming the open water, you would be hard pressed to target them. Had a friend that had a VERY early side scan sonar, this was like in the early 80's. We used it on Utah Lake several times to try and locate schools of WB & walleye. The biggest problem was that the schools were so mobile that you could not follow them. The live scope works best when targeting fish on specific structure, rocks, trees, brush piles, etc. You also have to spend A LOT of time learning how to interpret the screen. Most Pro's use it in conjunction with a standard sonar unit to get the results they want !! Lots and lots of money for the set up !!!
