The tubes are cut down from a 3 tube rod rack. Cut the 2 cross pieces that hold them together, leave just enough of the edges sticking out from the tubes. Then take 2 each 3 inch band clamps around the re-bar and the tube, inside the rectangular spaces left on the tube. Tighten down the clamps until it is snug, careful not to go tight enough to crack the tube. Place the tube at whatever height on the re-bar you are comfortable with that allows sufficient length to hammer into the bank, or wedge down into the rocks. Leave enough re-bar at the top to hammer on without hitting the tube.
The re-bar I used is 1/2". I bought 2 each 10 ft. lengths, cut them into 40" pieces with my chop saw, then angled the re-bar and cut a wedge point on the bottom. Easier than grinding it to a point.
