Fish report boy says: Pretty quiet around JC office over the last few days. All the autograph signing last week from his appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” wore old JC out. He was supposedly promoting his new book, which has his newest recipe in it “Marlin Guppy Soup” will be the featured recipe in JC,s book , As the Admiral Seas it, Recipes from My Heart” All that stuff about being a book author and a writer is pure fiction. Whats that all about JC: You cant even cook Bacon and Eggs!!! I had breakfast with you and you screwed up the Hot Cakes!! That beer batter you used for the hot cakes was more BEER than anything!! You tried to impress me by showing how to cook eggs on the hood of your 64 Rambler in that hot Cabo sun!! Well I want impressed, eggs had dirt in them. You and Chris traveled to New York to be on the Tonight Show was a waste of company money. Chris, acting as if he is your agent and body guard, what a clown he is also, I never respected Chris, the guy is a buffoon and all that stuff he says about himself being an orchard farmer, mango specialist, and an avocado doctor is more lies.
I have one other thing to say:“Dont you ever call me Little Man again!!! Not sure where that comes from, Im 6,3 and your 5,8? Ive said: what I have to say!! I am going to write that so called report you hired me to write.
Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.
WEATHER: Still off and on wind in the afternoons and that wind has blown in some cool water lowering water temperatures on the Pacific side. It has been pretty darn good over the last week with most days in the mid 90,s and lows in the 60,s at night. We can't get much better than that really. Not a lot of wind just a little breeze in the afternoons, but as far as fishing goes, it has been some pretty smooth seas making it a nice ride when out sport fishing.
WATER: On average the temperatures have been in the mid to low 70,s a little above average than normal. It should be cooler right now, but this year has been weird all year. Of course up inside of the Sea of Cortez is always much warmer than we have in Cabo as sometimes it’s a whole different ball game down there as far as species being caught. The clash of the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez here in Cabo makes for a much different chain of events as far a fishing goes.

BILLFISH: 2 Miles off the Arch towards Gey Rock has been strong for Marlin and pitching baits has been key in most landings. Most of the Marlin action has moved a bit towards San Jose and the Eastcape areas. It looks as if they are looking for the warmer water since the water temperatures on the Pacific and the Cabo area have cooled due to the wind blowing in cool water. Marlin fishing has been pretty good this past week around the 95 spot and now the fish are moving towards the Eastcape. Most fish being caught have been taken on live bait and lures. I know some of the other fleets have caught fish in this area also from their reports.
Cabo has more Striped Marlin caught than anywhere on earth and here is a little info. About them The striped marlin is a species of marlin found in tropical to temperate Indo-Pacific oceans not far from the surface. It is a desirable commercial and game fish with a record weight (in 1982) of 190 kg (420 lb) and a maximum length of 4.2 m (13.8 ft). The striped marlin is a predator that hunts during the day in the top 100 meters or so of the water column, often near the surface. One of their chief prey is sardines.
DORADO: Finally a few are starting to show up as we landed some really nice ones this past 2 weeks. We are hoping that this could be a good change to start catching Dorado again. As, you guys know over the last 2 years the action for Mahi Mahi hasn’t been what it used to be and hope with normal conditions this coming year and without El Nino we can have a good Dorado year. There are signs that it is getting better but I think we will really be able to tell over the next month or so, as to how it will really be this year. It should really start setting in now with warmer water temperatures expected soon.
SAILFISH: They are starting to show up with a couple caught this past week. It remains to be seen how we will do this week on the Sailfish but it ads to all the fishing fun in Cabo.
WAHOO: A few good Wahoo this week using jet heads. We also had a good run of Wahoo last week so they are in the area and seem to be hitting. Most are in the 25lb to 40lb range with a few tipping the scales at 50lb to 70lbs. You never know about the WAHOO you catch a bunch and then we go weeks without anything.
TUNA: There is a few football sized Tuna in our area. The guys are catching some you just to go out looking for them and now most likely you will run into some but you do have to look unless you get lucky. The best area is the 1150 spot and if you use king busters and cedar plugs you will have a good chance of landing some to grill.
INSHORE: Some days have been really good for Roosters and Sierras on the pacific side and then the wind comes up and we get blown out. This has been pretty typical over the last week with some good days and then some bad days. It seems if we do go inshore fishing we will always catch something and if it isn’t a Sierra it’s a Jack Crevell or a Rooster Fish. Guys, there is always inshore action in Cabo and 9 times out of 10 you will catch fish to make a nice dinner with.

This Southern Fried Oysters Recipe is a classic. In early 19th century America, oysters were cheap and plentiful and eaten mainly by the working class, even for breakfast. I ate them on cold autumn mornings on Long Island before a day of digging clams, or on a Sunday in winter before a day of football. Since then, oysters have become expensive, but now farmed oysters, which are actually good for the environment, are becoming more plentiful and this is bringing the price down -- making a hearty breakfast of fried oysters in cornmeal, rashers of bacon and some hot coffee more than just a memory. The key to success here is to use good bacon, strong coffee -- and small oysters.
INGREDIENTS
· 1/2 pound good bacon
· 1 cup medium-grind cornmeal
· 1 tablespoon cayenne (less if you'd like)
· 1 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper
· 2 large eggs1 pound small oysters, in their liquor (their own juices)
PREPARATION
1. Fry the bacon over medium-low heat until crispy and let drain on paper towels.
2. Meanwhile, mix the cornmeal, cayenne and black pepper together in a bowl.
3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and 2-3 tablespoons of the oyster liquor together.
4. Pick through the oysters to make sure no bits of shell are on them, then dip each one into the egg mixture and then into the cornmeal mixture.
5. Fry over medium heat until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
6. You will need to do this in batches so you don't crowd the pan. Drain the oysters on paper towels with the bacon.
7. Serve at once with reserved bacon, hot black coffee, maybe some hash browns and an egg or two. Finish with a piece of fruit and you have yourself a breakfast that'll carry you through to dinner!
BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report.
