HEADLINES: March 13, 2017:
JC barked:Ive seen Fire and ive seen Rain, but never this many SpringbreakersLots of kids in town for Spring Break and JC vows to give everyone a great fishing experience while there in Cabo. No matter who you are!! I don’t care if your Donald Trump! I will perform my Marlin fishing duties and extend my fishing hand to yours. I wrote the Marlin Magna Carta of Marlin Fishing and I am living proof of what a real fisherman is? I have caught everything in the book, including lots of Carp out of the Sacramento Delta, Bluegill in Arkansa and of course a few Perch in southern Texas.
My loving manager and friend Chris can vouch for my fishing escapades over the years and did witness me bowfishing, kitefishing with me actually on the kite, trolling from a Cessna, fishing for Perch from a Oil Tanker and landing a 5lb Largemouth from the dam on Lake Mead. Look I have done it all and now I am showing all the lil peons how to fish Marlin in Cabo.
JC saysI will stand on my head till my ears are turning redto make a deal!! Go see JC, Go see JC, Go see JC!! Go by his office to get all up to date fishing reports and meet his Dog Spot?

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: Everyday this past week has been really great weather! Highs in the mid 80,s in the day time and dropping to the low 60, at night. We cant ask for much better than this weather, there was a couple days of partial overcast and clouds but still warm. You you ever come to Cabo and spend a little time you will understand why so many people flock here, and has a lot to do with the consistent weather.

WATER: Well the water is still like it was last week with not much change. Water temperatures lingering around 71 to 72 degrees, but offshore 5 to 8 miles there is much warmer water according to the Tempbreak.com map. Really kind of all over the place this year for weird water temperatures. Not the normal cycle we are accustomed to and I think this has affected the fact only a hnd full of Yellowtail have shown this year.
This link which will show you water temperatures for the southern half of Baja. http://www.tempbreak.com/index.php?&cwregion=cb

BILLFISH: Marlin fishing has been hit and miss. The areas that are producing are up on the Pacific side, but it has been tough to catch them. At the beginning of the week it was pretty good in the areas of the 1150 and the 95 spots as we were catching good numbers of fish on live bait and ballyhoo. Then the fish seemed to have moved to the Pacific up and around Rancho Migrino. So it has been unpredictable as to where we are going to find the fish, but lucky for us, we don’t have to go for much of a boat ride to run into great fishing, cause we are in Cabo. Lucky Us!!!

DORADO: The Dorado fishing was happening up on the Pacific side around Ranch Migrinon and the guys were scoring the fish with lures along with live bait, but really not that many. It hasn’t been to good, but a few.

WAHOO: A few Wahoo around, but really not a lot. The ones that were caught were using rapalas dragged with Downriggers. I understand this was effective on some occasions this past week.

TUNA: At the beginning of the week we did have one good day for Tuna at the San Jamie Banks. We were using king busters and cedar plugs, but before long they were just gone. That’s fishing for Tuna in Cabo, sometimes there here on top of us and sometimes we have to run 25 miles to get to them.

INSHORE: The inshore fishing has been just ok with some Sierras and even a few Yellowtail reported off the Pedregal Rocks on rapalas and jigging iron. We expect when the water has finally cooled some, we will see some better inshore action, on Sierras and Yellowtail.

BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report.
