Before my bad back stopped me from ice fishing, I would bring a plank with me on almost every ice fishing trip. There were days when I knew that I would be leaving a lot of folks stranded if I took my plank back home with me. I would leave it and then plan to take it with me on my next trip out. The plank was always gone by the next trip.
I then tried to take the plank put on the ice with me after using it to get on the ice. That was a not a good idea as the plank was very awkward to haul around.
I decided that there was not a good answer to taking a plank ice fishing without costing me a lot of money.
My answer was to quite taking a plank and eventually quit ice fishing..
