Fishing Report Ucluelet, Victoria BC 2015

Ucluelet Report
November and December are usually quiet months for salmon fishing from Ucluelet but there is usually good ling cod fishing and this fall has been no different. Normally ling cod come in close to shore to spawn and it is generally pretty fast fishing for them. I don’t recommend taking ling cod over 15lbs for conservation and also the meat is not near as nice so there really isn’t any point in keeping the big ones. Lingcod can be caught on either jigs, squid or herring.

Victoria Report
Halibut fishing has been pretty consistent around Constance Bank, Haro Strait and Discover Island. Large herring, salmon bellies, mackerel or mudraker jigs have been working well. Chinook salmon fishing has been slow in most spots and those producing fish are seeing many in the 3-6lb range. The weather has been chilly so there hasn’t been much activity on the water.

We are going to be fishing Victoria starting February 1st until the middle of May and Ucluelet the first weekend in March until late September. If you are coming out to Pacific Rim region next summer to fish make sure you check out Tofino-Info.com for all the best beaches and trails in the area.

Thanks,

Sam Vandervalk
