Had plans to go camping at Strawberry next week before too cold, and guess what....it is closed! At least the improved camp sites. Thank you CONGRESS! This is CRAZY.

I think this will be the story at most places now. Thank god for state parks. Sounds like Starvy is a place to hit with all the bows there going nuts now.

You can fish Strawberry too, just can't camp in the improved camp sites.

Well for camping at least the state parks are open...[angelic] With Starvations rebuild they should be pretty decent. Oh well....it has been a crazy year any way.

Are they charging a use or launch fee now?

Two different lakes have been mentioned on this thread, I was talking about Starvation and yes they are still charging to launch there.

Shoot - so you can park a boat at the cabin, then go fish? Where have I been!

That'd be worth trying!

Was up there today and the campground at Renegade had campers in it and the gate was open.

A lot of Elk hunters are camped in unimproved areas along the west side of the lake.

I'm not sure why you would leave your boat at the cabin and then go fishing but you would have a place to stay when you got off the water. If I remember correctly there are no showers or restroom in the cabins but I think they have elect. and there is a common shower and restroom.

We have friends that leave their trailers there. Guess we have basically a week to see what happens. Sad it had to come to this point. Someone definitely wasn't taken seriously.

Thanks to everyone for all the updated information. Just to make sure I caught everything, the Strawberry Marina ramp is still open to launching boats, right? Did anyone clarify if Strawberry is still charging entry fees right now? We are heading up there tomorrow so I want to make sure I know what we should be ready for.

We are planning on trolling pop gear for the most part but may stop to jig tubes now and again. Is there a certain area of the lake that would hold better promises for us? We should have a kid or two with us, so fast action is probably preferable to only catching a few of the bigger ones. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Toby

Don't waste gas trolling. Fish shallow with a worm and bobber down about 3 ft. Can't keep'm off. Fish fairly close to shore east of Renegade boat ramp.

Soooo, now with all that, a political question,, -----Who's at fault for all this mess?" Just your opinion. [Smile] I value it. [Wink]

I say try trolling. Maybe even a little on the fast side. 30 to 40 feet of water. That is where I have been catching not for single days outing, but for weeks in a row. If that doesn't work, then try working the shore line.
A lot of fun exploring.[cool]

Do we really want to go there? The reason I say this is because there are so many different and strong opinions out there that we can end up arguing and fighting with no real outcome.

But if you want my opinion I say it is those in politics who are wearing blinders to the point they see nothing else but what they want whether it is good for the country or not. I won't point any fingers cause it will start something that may end badly for all involved or reply to this thread.
