the gills are pre bed stage...
I wouldnt scoft on looking in the worm waters for gills. I have often found them up in the cannals just prior to pre bedding...
I am targeting the same area as the beds will be in just a week or two...
the gills seem to like yellow. I am using a peice of fly line strike indicator on a number 8 hook... they are going after that so I switched from leaf worms to the indicator. If you dont have that sticky styrofome strike indicator try a small yellow hulla popper...
I forgot to mention, earlier in the morning I saw a saber tooth LMB jump 5 feet out of the water on macy day lake... what I mean is it was a mamoth of a bass... Last time I saw one do that I had a repalla hooked in its mouth, Dont know what made this one jump....
