Hal and I went out about 9:30 this morning, expecting the rain to arrive around noon as predicted by the lying weather man. We fished until 4:00 pm and saw 28 drops of rain. Now, I'm not complaining a bit. emoBigSmile

The morning bite was slow. We only caught 15 crappie in the morning and 1 bluegill, and 1 tiny lm bass. The afternoon bite was a different story. We fished in the morning in the river, with the water temps about 52.5 degrees. We went to Wolftever creek for the afternoon bite and caught Polo's pet crappies. Water temp in the creek was 55 balmy degrees. Our total catch for the day, 81 crappie, 1 bluegill, 1 bass. We released all fish. Most of the fish in the creek were undersized, but we did catch several nice fat female keepers that are still swimming out there getting ready to have babies.

Crappie stingers was the magic bait today. Maybe a couple came on BG shads or some other bait. All the fish that I caught came on pearl/chartreuse crappie stingers 1.5". I couldn't get them to hit our secret lure today. They wanted stingers. Bites were very subtle. We never felt most of the strikes. You had to watch your line to detect the strikes. 2 to 4 count was the best depth over 10 feet of water. I had to quit at 4:00 and the fish were still biting really good. No telling how many we could have caught if we could have stayed til 6:00. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
