Large Mouth at Laguna Niguel Lake

Myself, the Angler and Tanner made it out to Laguna Niguel Lake Sunday and had a great time catching fish all day. The bite wasn't wide open, but definitely consistant. We had a total of 5 large mouth from 2-3 pounds fishing 6 pound clear,drop-shotting nightcrawlers. We caught some small crappie that Hodgdon insisted we troll. Coming out off the dock heading north bound at about 150 yards sure enough, zzzzziiiingggg! He hooked onto what was ATLEAST a 12 pounder (no fish story, this thing was huge) and farmed it at color.

Any tips you might have on not farming the next trophy fish Hodg?
