Tips and Other Information: Although the river is a bit on the skinny side, a skilled nymph fisherman will hook several nice fish in the Sun-Set, and Kemp Breeze area. Flies of choice have been #20 Mercury Baetis, #20 Sparkle Wing RS II’s, #20 Mercury Pheasant Tails, and #18 Buckskins. The baetis are hatching nicely offering excellent dry fly fishing in the afternoons. Several medium sized fish up on dries in the Paul Gilbert and Lone Buck areas. #20 Sparkle Duns, and #20 Hi Vis Baetis are the ticket for the surface feeders. The stoneflies are beginning to “move” and a #6-10 Dark Stonefly will fool many fish along the edges of the stream right now. Within the next two weeks, anglers will experience incredible dry fly fishing with large Rubber Legged Stimulators, Sofa Pillows, and Fluttering Stoneflies. The snow pack is only 53 percent of normal, so run-off will be minimal in this section this year. I don’t expect the flows to exceed the 600-800 cfs range, which is not good.
