Yikes! That's cold. I was up there last year a week earlier and I don't remember it being that cold. What to do, what to do?

Swallow your pride and go trout fishing, John😎 Minersville, Gorge, Otter Creek, they're on! Warmer temps will come, in a month.

It depends on the fish finder my friends showed 50 yesterday and another friend I fished with the day before was 48 mine last week was showing 45-47. Water has about two foot visibility four in some of the bays. Fishing is pretty good however.

Ha! That's funny Dave. I ended up hanging out with my daughter and being lazy all day. I've been going nonstop so a much needed break. Just got back from Texas and I'm chompin at the bit to get some local water action.

We were there yesterday morning and the temps were around 48 degrees. The water was a bit turbid, but not too horrible. We only trolled for a couple of hours with no hits. We couldn't make it to our favorite spot due to us being in a small boat/small motor and not wanting to get caught too far from the ramp if the wind picked up any more. We've had enough rodeos with large waves to want to ride out more. Maybe we could have had more luck if we could have fished longer and in a location we've had more success in. Hope others had more success. Just nice to be out. Happy trails.

Was there this morning
Water 48 pretty much everywhere
No boats trolling for trout today, I found that very strange.
We were bass fishing, it was kinda slow.

Hit Walcott yesterday for a bit of trolling. We were there for most of the AM and had no takers. Water temp was 47 in the morning. There were only 5 trucks parked when we got there and maybe 15 when we left. That kinda surprised me for a Saturday.

I fished Walcott a couple times last year with just enough luck to keep my coming back hoping for more. Been there twice this year, including opening day, and had no luck at all. From talking to a few other fisherman when we pulled out, it sounds like the trout fishing has been pretty slow. That is kinda my normal Walcott experience, slow fishing. But last year I would have a nice fish or two to take home.

It has been way slower, by this time last year we had boated 250 by now and in six or seven trips this year about 45 The dirty water coming in from Raft River has not helped.
We are loosing a lot of fish out to the river with the huge flows. The fish are very healthy with the Oct 2015 planters in the 3-4 pound range and many of the Oct 2016 juviniles already in the two pound average or close to it. The two and a half year olds are in the five to seven pound range and have been scarce out of the boat. They are close to the bank as always and I know of seven or eight seven or eight pounds being caught. A week ago Friday and Saturday we caught 11 and 10 Weather has been horrible. You have to find the fish we have had four doubles this year. Size 5 jointed Rapalas in orange and Lucky Craft Brownies in the smallest size always produce fish.

Last year on April 1st the parking lot was pretty full and there were easily 50 fish five or better caught that day. I would say at least ten times the size and number last year to this the first month extending through most of May l which is prime at this lake. I know three fly fisherman including me multiple times of landing over six in a day averaging right around six pounds. The pressure is great and the fish simply get caught out is why it does not extend through July. I talked to a guy launching his boat one day who said he caught 7 on three mile point that year and all exceeded five pounds but it was rare last year for me to catch more than three or four of that size with my partner and I. Last year we benefited on the carryover fish as the Oct plantings had been right around 40,000 from 2011 to 2014. In 2015 they decided that planting them one inch larger they could get by with 25000 hence we don't have the carryover is one reason the numbers are way down this year. I think that is plain crazy. Walcott now that there is zero drawdown essentially is 20 miles long all the way to Eagle Rock with the best growth rate in the state yet last year they planted 140,000 6+catchables in Salmon Dam which is a fifth the size. Nothing can compare with 35 years of experience and knowing where the fish are. You have to find them and find out which way they are swimming. We have not had a 70 degree day in April. last year on April 21 or thereabouts we had 84 degrees. Good weather is ahead by Wed. and by Saturday the Alfred Hitchcock type turdfly will commence and fishing will be much better.

Not to gloat but I am sure I still hold the record for being skunked the most at Minidoka Dam.

I was the first boat on the water 4/29. I pounded it pretty hard and ended up with two smallies 5 minutes apart. I never did find them really but it was nice to get out.I was bundled up from the morning and got off at 3pm and the parking lot was a scorcher, I was peeling off layers by the time I got to the truck. It turned out to be a pretty nice day but the morning was cold!!! 47 when I got there, 48 when I left.
I will be back!

45 for this year is really good, I haven't heard a report or anyone doing better than that Smile It has been slow for us this year so far as well and the old stand buy that has always worked in the past hasn't even tempted a fish this year Sad Have to pick up some of the luckycraft for next time see if our luck improves. Hopefully with the warmer weather it will pick up. I have head like you said the fisherman below the dam are doing well and some nice fish.
