A easy way to check how deep it is (under 30 ft) is by taking a 30 foot tape, one inch wide, and to stick it down the hole till you hit bottom, it just wont tell you how deep it is to the inch, but it also tells you if its rocky, sandy, or even how deep the silt is. You might get laughed at, but if you try it , youll always use it. Flagmanonice<br><br>

I have seen this done before. the guy who i saw do it was the only one to catch a walleye that day. He caught it out of the same hole he measured with a tape.
