[#990033]FISHING POND OPENS IN MESQUITE[/#990033]
Fishing will get underway at Clark County’s fifth urban fishing pond on Friday (1/30/04) when rainbow trout are stocked at Hafen Lane Park, 450 West Hafen Lane, in Mesquite.
Jon Sjoberg, supervising fisheries biologist for the Nevada Department of Wildlife, said this will be the initial trout plant at the newly constructed pond. Another plant will take place in the spring.
“We are pleased to be providing fish for a fifth urban fishing pond in southern Nevada,” Sjoberg said. “The other ponds that we stock are at Floyd Lamb State Park, Lorenzi Park and Sunset Park in Las Vegas and Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City.
Anglers 12 and older, who are fishing at the urban ponds, including the one in Mesquite, are required to have a Nevada fishing license and trout stamp. Information about the pond may be obtained by calling the Mesquite Recreation Center at (702) 346-8732.
