Island Park Res.
#1
Going to fish at Lakeside Lodge in the morning with my brother . It will be my first time fishing Island Park Resivior this year . I wish they would stop filling the lake . The soft edges and water on top of the ice is a pain . Where are they going to put all the spring runoff ?

Curt,
I fished Lakeside twice this week. The ice is perfect. I think there has been so many snow machines on the ice that it has been totally beaten down. It's very hard with no slush. One day I caught about 18 brook trout most of which were 6 to 8 inches. Very strange. I also managed a few decent rainbows up to 2+ pounds. Make sure you have your extension. I was drilling through about 40 inches before I hit water.

Thanks Bill , I would not have brought my extension . I have never had to use it before . I will report how we do .

Had a fun day . Kept 4 between 12 and 15" rainbows . Landed 5 suckers , one was 26" long . Also landed 8 small Brookies . You could use an atv today . No slush or water on top of 30" of ice . I didn't need my extension for my auger . We hooked and lost several fish we never seen . Probably going back up Wednesday .

Fished the boat dock near the dam yesterday . 33 " of ice and edges were good . Fishing was slow . Had my best luck with a power bait nugget and 1" piece of worm on a #2 bait holder hook . Tried jigs and spoons , they didn't want them .

This time of year I like a half of a red, white and blue nugget with a piece of worm and a small spit shot 12" above the #8 024 Eagle Claw bait hook. [Image: bobwink.gif]
