Merc Classic 50
#1
So I don't have the time and patients to keep messing around with my older (1986?) Merc classic 50. It starts and runs well, but I feel like I'm only getting about half the power I thought I would. I am suspect that one of the carbs/fuel pumps isn't working and I may have the wrong prop due to elevation here vs California where I bought it. Does anyone here have any recommendations where I can drop it off to have it fixed up? I don't want to dump a whole lot of money into it and wouldn't mind bringing it to someones home garage. I also have a stand with casters so it's mobile. Oh, yeah, anywhere from Ogden to North Salt Lake would be best. Thanks!

Your Classic 50 is a 4 cylinder motor, designed to be used for trolling. The 4 cylinders let the motor run smoother at lower RPM. It was specifically designed for back trolling, where you trolled in reverse, using the transom to slow you down. Most of these motors were tiller controlled with trim and tilt on the handle. Good motor, hope you find someone to work on it for you !!
