Drove up to Montpellier yesterday to give it a try. Got pretty slushy by 3pm with some dry spots to fish ice was 12 plus and safe.. Kokes were in upper 10 ft. but smallish (12 inch max) we got 5 but the bite was very light. caught 5 other trout and tons of perch also smallish. Fished a cross section from the parking lot to the far shore mostly in depths in the 30s. Used finks and mealys.

The walk in was easy, 300 yards straight down the ramp road. I fished the whole cross section to the opposite side but the first holes at 300yds were the best. The bite was best in the mourning with kokes everywhere then cooled off fast by noon. The kokes were very shallow some just below the ice.

Seems that is always the case with kokanee, the morning bite has always been the best for me too.
