Fly fishing tilapia and carp on Mead
#1
While out striper fishing on mead I noticed a lot of tilapia in the coves. A few where eating bugs off the top. I'm thinking about taking my fly rob out tomorrow to see if I can catch any.

I've also seen videos of people sight fishing for carp like bone fish. Anyone here doing that in the Vegas area? I like all fishing, but I love fly fishing and didn't get my fly rods out at all last year. Any advice would be great!

Red copper johns seem to be the trick. I cast over the nest and strip. Missed a few, and had a few get off. I thought they would fight a bit harder. They make one hard run and kind of give up. Still fun and they taste good. The other fish where caught off live shad and chunks off a bid gizzard shad. Fun fun night!

Now I need to figure out how to get those carp on a fly.

Nice catch there!! Were those tilapia caught from shore? Daytime or nighttime? I've been hearing stories about where to find the tilapia at but those area seems a bit difficult to access w/o a boat. Can you give me some guidance to which cove I can find them but no boat only on foot. Thanks

NICE WORK! You are the first and only person I know of who's gone after tilapia and gotten and gotten a nice haul too
