Callville Bay all broken up 08/18/2013
#1
Big storm came through Callville Bay this afternoon. I got off the water about a hour before it hit. Parked my boat on the dock so I could pull it out at night after all the people left.

I was in my place in the trailer village and I sware the house was shaking, it was like a hurricane. After the storm finally went by i decided to go down and take a look at all the people trying to get there boats out after it was to late.

When I got to the launch ramp it was totally broken away and into the bridge to the main dock, and the main dock was broke in multiple places. The only way to get to parts was by shuttle.

I have seen Lake Mead turn into a ocean before but this topped it. I could only imagine what it was like if you got stuck on the water.

Glad I went Saturday! 113 or not better than that mess. I can't imagine what a pain something like that would be with just Madi and me. All those trucks lined up the ramp, single person to drive the boat and truck, etc, etc Would be a nightmare!

the nice thing about living here is you can have endless entertainment. i went and sat on the back of my truck and watched all the people trying to fight to get there boat back on the trailer.

i just wait until about 9 or 10 at night to go put my boat on the trailer.

UPDATE

the launch ramp dock is back in place, yet they have multiple areas on the marina docks that are broken still.

Im glad I only fish echo when I go to lake mead.
I refuse to go to the south end of the lake unless they start stocking trout again... which will never happen so I fish north or willow...

Hope they get your marina back together again...

Back in 2010 a big storm came in and washed away the fule dock and a few other floating buildings.

I think in 2010 that was the same storm the wreaked havoc at LVBH as well. One of the dock legs broke free, and a 60+ foot houseboat came loose and bounced around like bumper pool. A few boats sank, and a lot more damaged.

Luckily, mine was ok and I got to move to the new dock legs right by the gate when they fixed it all up. Nice new dock and a much shorter walk Smile

I was actually out on the lake yesterday in the Vegas wash/33 hole area. I rode it out in a bay out of the wind for the most part but not the rain. It got pretty crazy but figured safer in the little cove that head directly in to the storm back to the marina. Made it back between storms.
