Just a word of warning for everyone who fishes at Mead, or any lake or river for that matter. Currents can be a killer, so please don't underestimate how dangerous the waters can be.
I witnessed a teen go under in one of the coves this weekend after he thought he could make it across. Luckily he was eventually pulled out and was somewhat revived by the time rescue crews got there (45 minutes after he went under). Not really sure what happened to the kid, but wanted everyone to keep that in mind when out on the water.
Also make sure you know exactly where you're at as 911 had no idea where the area was or how rough the roads are leading back to the area. I had to give detailed instructions on how to find the cove and pretty much plead with the operator to send the chopper or a boat.
