NOTE: 10% Travel required.

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, writing, and editing content to support the State Parks website, intranet, calendar of events, and digital publications. Works with teams of content experts to plan and update content using the Plone content management system. Writes and edits web content for desktop and mobile formats. Plans photographic content for park facility web pages. Trains agency staff in how to write effective web content; use the Plone content management system. Establishes and follows editorial workflows. Assists with planning a new intranet site and migrating content from the old site. Ensures web content adheres to agency policy and follows best practices. Organizes and archives multimedia content for the Interpretive Services branch. May assist with web-based promotional campaigns. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

Qualification Guidelines:<br />
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:<br />
Education:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.

Experience:

Four years experience in planning, writing, editing or creating web or print content for the public information sector, outdoor industry, parks interpretation or related areas.

ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS:<br />
Education:

One additional year of experience in planning, writing, editing or creating web or print content for the public information sector, outdoor industry, parks interpretation or related areas may substitute for thirty semester hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:<br />
Education:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Web Design, or related degrees.

Experience:

Experience using the Plone content management system;<br />
Experience creating content for mobile websites.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:<br />
Knowledge of rules of style, grammar, spelling and punctuation, including the AP Style Manual and/or Chicago Manual of Style;<br />
Knowledge of web content management systems and workflow processes;<br />
Knowledge of mobile website content requirements;<br />
Skill in writing, editing, and proofreading web and/or print content;<br />
Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook;<br />
Skill in using Plone;<br />
Skill in planning, organizing and archiving, with attention to detail;<br />
Skill in setting timelines and managing several projects simultaneously;<br />
Skill in coordinating the editorial work of diverse writers and teams;<br />
Skill in training others;<br />
Skill in maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts;<br />
Ability to write content for web pages in a customer-focused, conversational style that is easy to scan with a strong customer point of view;<br />
Ability to maintain complex sets of documentation (such as Plone user group accounts, training guidelines, and web-related spreadsheets);<br />
Ability to work as a member of a team;<br />
Ability to take creative direction;<br />
Ability to maintain flexibility and work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities;<br />
Ability to comply with all Agency, Division and branch rules, regulations and procedures.

Additional Information:<br />
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Required to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; alternative work schedule may be available;<br />
Required to work overtime as necessary;<br />
Required to travel with possible overnight stays;<br />
Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.<br />
