Middle Point Island
#1
Finally got some time off work when the wind was not blowing so I headed out Monday evening to Middle Point island for some night fishing. Started around 8pm and did not catch first fish till 10pm..a dink cat I thru back. By midnite I had 5 stripers and was feeling pretty good about the trip and then the floodgates opened...I was fishing in about 45 feet of water anchored about 100 yards off the shore and now I could not even get the bait to the bottom without getting hit. I had to quit fishing just to have a beer. By 2am the fish cooler was completely full. The weather was perfect and now I am stocked up on stripers...Fish Taco Time!!! I will say that in the last 15 years in the month of June I have allways done well around Middle Point...I personally think the Virgin Basin stripers seem healthier too

Sounds like a great time. I love it when you have to keep you line out of the water just to finish a beer. Where is middle point at? Thanks for reporting. Fish on!

Middle point Island is right where the Virgin Basin and Overton Arm connect. If you leave Callville and go through the Narrows and then across the Virgin Basin its just to the left before you head North to the Overton Arm. It has not been an Island for a long time due to lower water levels. It has been the most productive fishing spot for myself and several of my friends on Lake Mead for nearly 20 years during May-July. It was a secret for a long time but I guess the cat is outa the bag.
