Some friends decided to take advantage of free fishing day, yesterday. They headed out around 2pm and saw the crowds at the wash and hemenway so they decided to go over to kingman wash. It was a good call as there was only one other group fishing out there, although there were some people camping and such. We arrived just as the sun went down and they hadn't caught anything. FYI that road is pretty hairy, especially if you're in a car. We were in a pickup.
I started soaking a chovie and then threw a black spinnerbait around for a bit with no takers.
I started chumming some corn and we started getting bites. My buddies dad started catching fish after fish as the rest of us sat waiting for our turn. They were mostly dinks but he did pick up a 3lb striper and his friend broke off a pole bender that must have been decent. All in all we left with 8 stripers and a catfish and we left at about 1am.
I didn't bother taking any pics since they werent anything to write home about. I figured I'd report anyway since I've never caught anything at Kingman in the few times I've been there. I've heard it helps to walk out a ways toward the mouth of the cove, but we just fished off the first point on the left side.
This was the fisrt time I've taken fish instead of releasing them in a very long time. I got an electric knife that I wanted to try and I learned that I'm terrible at filleting.
