Plastic Navy Lake Mead 4-21

So I headed out to Government Wash yesterday morning at 6 a.m. and ended up meeting up with the Sin City Kayak Anglers (they're on Meet Up). We headed out and right alway Kevin hooks up with a nice smallmouth and right after a dink striper trolling a trout color swim bait. We worked around the outer edge of Government Wash and headed to the coves on the other side. Found Potty Cove (the cove with the flotating head).

Everyone but me caught something. I must have put on some skunk perfume since I didn't even get a bite. Talked to some of the other boaters in the area and they were having spotty catches, nothing great.

The only thing I did get was a bad sunburn on my ankles. I was wearing dry duck pants and forgot to sunscreen my lower legs.

As the day wore on we split up exploring different coves. I got as far as the mouth of Las Vegas wash and then headed back. By the time I got back to the launch site the Sin City Anglers, Ken, Kevin and Mark had packed up and left.

Great day for fishing with light winds but its starting to get hot. But it was good to have some company along the way. I may not have caught any fish but I found three serious kayak anglers that share the same passion for the sport. A good day of fishing the way I see it.

No fish but at least you were out there. Did you meter anything promising? I know Las Vegas Kayaks on the Meet up, is the Sin city group more fishing minded? Might try to make it out there in two weeks or so. Hopefully it stays warm but not so damm sunny. Thanks for the report non the less

Yes, the Sin City group are kayak anglers, unlike the Las Vegas Kayakers which is more of a paddle club. Ken started this group with fishing in mind. He said he wasn't interested in the kayak paddle groups in the area which more about kayaking trips. Fishing is the main attraction of this group, kayaks are the fishing platform. I joined up this morning. Looks like the next meet up will be this saturday at Gov't Wash at 6:30 am. I have to travel to Pahrump that saturday so I won't be there.

Looks like the next meet up is May 12th some bat time, same bat place. I plan to attend that one.
