State Record Bluegill...? Maybe Top 10?
#1
This is my first post, so bear with me... My buddy and I went fishing at Potholes Reservoir in WA and he caught a HUGE bluegill (attached)! We didn't weigh it, and we didn't keep it. Which shows that the current state record for bluegill is 2lbs 5oz.

I'm curious if anybody knows someone who might have more experience with bluegill and typical sizes and weights and maybe give an estimate of weight for this fish. My buddy thinks it was probably between 1 - 1.5lbs.

Wow am I jealous!![cool]

Beautifull fish and welcome to BFT and this forum. Hope you stay with us and have many more pictures like that to share. I know some members would aappreciate it if you could resize them as the bigger ones take along time to load.

Also I am sorry but you need to visit the rules on what you can and can't do as a new member here on BFT. I had to delet your link, not allowed as a newbie.

Many would I like to catch one of them on ultra light or my 4wt fly rod.

from that image that is probably a 1.25 to almost a 1.75 bluegill. A trophy bluegill for any state but if you are up north in washington that could easily be a state record. You should have called your game warden and had it weighed...
