Flaming Gorge Ice Fishing Report 3/12/11
#1
Went ice fishing on FG on Saturday 3/12, a few miles north of Buckboard. Got there at 9am or so and fished in 80ft of water. Fishing was very good for the first couple hours and then trailed off from there. By noon the schools of macs were only coming by every 10-15min and it was getting harder to get them to bite, but we still caught fish until we quit at 3 due to rain. Set out a bottom line with sucker meat but got no bites from burbots.

Size ranged from 15" up to around 23". Most of the larger ones were caught closer to the surface (15-25ft).

There was about 12-18" of good clear ice. The shoreline is starting to show signs of deterioration in spots but it was still solid.
