Shellcracker (Redear Sunfish) for Idaho?
#21
It is a nice little reservoir. I've had fun fishing it both in a float tube and ice fishing it. A bass size slot limit for it like they have for Weston Reservoir might be the trick to keep the bluegill population down--good idea you have.

Shellcrackers were originally native to the southeastern states in the U.S. Over time they have been transplanted further north and even to some western states. Even Indiana has them now in the northern part of the state so I know they can handle colder water and winter temps. You now we have green sunfish, pumpkinseed sunfish and bluegills and warmouth in the state of Idaho. I think shellcrackers would be superior to the green sunfish for eating and superior in fight and size compared to the shellcracker(redeared sunfish). They even get bigger than the bluegill in many cases.
