CT Proposed Lead Ban (Sinkers, Jigs & More)
Proposed [#3f3927]S.B. No. 59[/#3f3927] SEN. MEYER, 12th DIST. 'AN ACT PROHIBITING THE SALE OR USE OF FISHING SINKERS, JIGS AND TIRE WEIGHTS THAT CONTAIN LEAD ', to reduce the lead poisoning of birds and fish.
REF. ENVIRONMENT

[red]Time to ACT NOW everyone in CT, or those who fish CT waters (fresh & salt). This is ridiculous, and a twisted attempt to revive that which got shot down already by the EPA on 11/4/2010 (copy of information below).[/red]

For those in CT, write your legislators NOW. This needs to be done by many, so spread the word, as this impact the sale or usage lead sinkers, to lead jigs, and in the inane proposal, the banning of lead usage in Tire Weights, all with the guise of reducing lead poisoning to fish and birds.

It has already been scientifically proven that the elimination of these products would have zero material impact on either fish or birds, in the current ecosystem and is microscopic in comparison with other real chemical based hazards to these species.

Here is the very weak transcript of the Connecticut General Assembly, Proposed Bill No. 59:

January Session, 2011 LCO No. 390

Referred to Committee on Environment
