Welcome to the forum. Hope you find BFT both benificial and where you can share info as well, For starters I am not sure what long line trolling is, so I am not sure if I have done it or not. Tell me about it.

Long line trolling is trolling jigs behind the boat at low speeds between .8 - 1.2 mph. I use my electric bow mount trolling motor to power the boat and a GPS to monitor my speed.
The depth of the water and fish will determine jig size. I use a 1/32 in 5-6' of water in spring and 1/16 and 1/8 later in the year when fish go deeper. I use a 2" curly tail grub (I prefer Southern Pro Hot grubs). The curly tail grub has a great action at the above mentioned speeds and sends out good vibrations that mimic the tail action of a minnow. [signature]

Never done that.
most of the huge crappie we catch here in ARK... are on jigs in small ponds... check my images on my profile and see a crappie almost 2lb. crappie school so I really don't see how trolling for them would be productive. I could be wrong been wrong many times. [signature] |
