Well welcome to Big Fish Tackle and I hope you take time to check out all the forums including your state. This is a group of like minded people who enjoy fishing and all that it entails and are excited to help and share info.
Tube jigs are quite simple. Simply tie it to the end of your line, you can bait it or not, lower it to the deep you believe your target fish are and simply twit or move it up and down at different speeds and length of movement. Or cast it out and retrieve it with it bounceing on the bottom or staying in the water column. [signature]

Do you use a sinker with them?

Normally they go over a hook that has a weight molded around the hook but if you are using them on just a hook yes you might use a sinker to help cast them and to get them down to the fish quicker.

for weight you can also use a jighead, and if you are fishing it on the bottom just pop it up and down as you slowly reel it in. Ithis will make the head go up first then fall straight back down on the head and makes the tail strips pulsate. this is a great way to catch many species. but you can also vertical fish it at the height you want and just twitch it or pop it up and let it back down like 2 or 3 inches. it can also be fished under a bobber so you can cast it where you need it and slowly reel in keeping it at the same height of your wish. use a jighead for this.
