I have seen every thing used from number #10 octopus to 3/4 inch trebble hooks.
stay away from the blood and wire hooks, look for heaveir gages and hardend hooks.
Mustad dose make a good heavy gage hook, I have yet to streighten on of those, I end up breaking the line.

Owner , Eagle Claw , Mustad brands of hooks are great also .
I use a assortment of them (both eye up and eye down ) but my standard hook sizes are gold and blood red #20's & #18's (single egg/salmon egg with single barb on the shank ) when fishing with 4# and 5# test momo .
Brown and black # 6 & # 8 (Beak hooks ) when fishing with 6# and 8# test mono .
If I'm going to tie a streamer or wolly bugger I will use Mustad or Eagle Claw walley hooks in a # 6 or #8 (blood red ).
If you are going to use a heavy line like a firewire (8# dia. = 17 lb. tensle strength ) a O'Shaughnessy , A Siwash , or standard Eagle Claw hook would be best .
I'll post pics later this weekend .
