Sunday morning started off seeing a cow come across a clearing by herself and then a 6x6 by himself. I watched some more waiting for more elk but none came out. I looked to my far far right and I could see two hunters on a point about half a mile away. They started shooting toward my way. I got to a point overlooking the draw they were shooting into. I had elk coming out of the trees shortly after the shooting started. I picked out a spike and downed him quickly. I went to work gutting him and those two guys came thru the trees on a blood trail. They had two cow tags and hit one. I finished gutting the elk and opened it up to air it out and went and help them track their cow. We found specks of blood for about a mile from where they shot it at. We finally ran out of blood and searched all over and could not find any more. The cow was going uphill higher and higher and had no problems and we finally gave up after three of us searched and searched for about 2 hours. All three of us went back to my spike and they helped me drag it about 1 mile back to where we could get a atv to it. Mine does not have a winch so they offered to bring one of theirs back to us and use the winch to pull it up the last hill. Then we got it out and back to my camp and they even helped me hang it. For their efforts I am giving them half the elk. I would have had to quarter it up for me to get it out. What took us a couple of hours would have taken me all day making 4 trips a quarter at a time. Here's a couple of pics taken yesterday afternoon. Elk hanging and then packed up and leaving. Now I have a cow tag for wyoming to get next.
