Twin Lakes trip
#1
I went to Twin Lakes over presidents day weekend (Sunday). We got there around noon and the fishing was pretty slow most of the day we only caught a couple of trout between three of us. Then about an hour before sundown the blue gill started showing up, the vex lit up and the bite began. I landed my personal best gill @ 11". Most were typical twin lakes blue gills. We ended up with 3 trout, 1 crappie, 1 perch and a bunch of gills. If I go again I won't even leave the house until around 3:00 pm. and stay into the night. The bite never really stopped we just got tired and hungry.

Hope this helps somebody....

I've never fished there, and I don't even really know where it is, but congrats on the horse of a bluegill. I've caught thousands of them, and 8 is my biggest. Any pics?

Thanx for the info, sounds fun. If you don't mind, which part of the lake were you fishing.

Is that out from the main boat ramp or closer to the damn?

Out from the main ramp. I guess you could call it a big cove to the Southwest of the North lake. Kind of by the berm that separates the two lakes. Does that make sense? I'm not very good at describing locations.

That's refreshing to hear. My son and I who had done great on Twin last year on two occasions did lousy this year. We and several other parties this year wondered where all the fish had disappeared to. Thanks for the info.[Smile]

Hit Twin hard yesterday and slow slow slow but, ended up with 6 nice 8" perch and 2 good bows. Missed a few bows but no panfish. Fised from 7 to 5:30 and split it between north and south lakes. Neither was hot either place. You can drive a pickup to the south lake this year which you havent been able to do in years. Snow packed but drivable.

A couple late groups came around 4:30 so dont know how they did but most others were getting bows.

Interesting fact is all the perch, all females, where gorged with small crappie fry. Here and Glendale based on the number of small crappie fry should be hot hot hot in a couple of years if the number fo small fry are indicating any thing they had one hell of a spawn this past year.

If you looking to catch a ton of gills, everyone I talked to said it was very much hit and miss on one here and there.

Fished in 12-25 foot water and didnt make a difference but on fish finders and under water cameras that a couple guys had, you could see fish all over but would not take the bite.

Good ice though so should be around for a while more.

Hi duksnfish,

Thanks for the report. I just recently purchased an underwater camera to go with my fishfinder. Hope to get some use out of it soon. Tried once on Ririe but had troubles with it. Hope it wasn't defective.
