I'm being a little optimistic here but , when the thaw finally arrives where are you going to cast your first line and what will you be fishing for ?
You know me , The Au Sable and steelhead !

I'm going walleye fishing. Opening day of walleye I'll be on the Ausable trolling with a homemade red n white crawler harness in what grandpa called #2 (second bend from Orchard Park)
I havn't fished that spot since he died 6 years ago. I'm thinking this year it's time to go back to my roots and hook up with walleyes and start the year off right in honor of him.

Ya' know that's Bassass's stomping grounds too !
He's given me a few walleye holes to hit in the past on the AuSable that have really paned out bigtime .
Don't forget your steelhead rod , the cromers are usually running at the same time below the dam , i'll be there .
If you like suckers they as well will be running very close to that time frame .

I'm thinking April 18th (Sat).
Species- Walleye
Location- Ausable River, Fish anywhere between Foote and Cooke Dams
Open to everyone here on the bigfishtackle Michigan site along with their family n friends.
Start 7:30 am (Sunrise: 6:44am)
Finish 7:00 pm (Sunset: 8:20pm)

Entry Fee- ??? Not sure... what do you guys think? -- Big enough so that there is something worth winning to make it interesting but at the same time low enough for all of us out here who are not billzillionares. This is primarialy designed to bring friends together for a fun day of fishing with a little bonus to a lucky few.
Prizes- 30 % to the biggest fish, 60% to the boat with largest total weigh in. 5% Booobie prize (like to the person that falls off their boat or shows up and realizes they forgot their fishing poles or something) 5% to help fund the walleye fish fry we will hold immediately afterward at the campsite. (Old Orchard Park)
Regulations- Max 2 people per boat, if you don't have a boat and want to fish from shore I guess that would be ok too. As long as you stay between Cooke and Foote dam and don't run over to Lake Huron and bring back a bunch of charter fish you caught 30 miles out... and of course max 5 fish per person, at least 15 inches long, no snagging, legaly caught...etc etc etc etc...
Ok.... what am I missing Mr. Bassssaasssssss ??? (Fill in some detail eeeeh... I'm new at this.
Oh... and would we have to get a permit or anything for this? Don't want the DNR having a fit.
