went to murrell's inlet today. caught 25 sheepshead using barnacles. weighed 6-10lbs. for some reason, they are in abundance this year. don't bother with fiddlers. they are just biting barnacles and when the big ones hit, you know it.

Ron, have you been back fishing since then? I know the sheepies are hanging around still. Where did you spank them on this past report?

fished on the garden city side about half way in. those sheepies weren't shy about taking the barnacles either. we had the fish in a cooler toward the back of the boat and didn't pay attention to the water creeping in the boat. had to cut anchor and turn on the pumps. 10 minutes more and we would have been at the bottom of the inlet. scary but a great time was had by all. haven't been back[fishin]

I know some have been being caught in Winyah bay and Mc'ville. I haven't heard anything about MI so far. It's a whole lot easier to target sheepshead in those areas, while in MI you have to anchor on top of the rocks, and that doesn't sit well in my stomach. It's good to hear you're catching fish though. It's been hit and miss with me this year. Had a couple really good trips, and the others have just been OK. I've spent a lot of time offshore this season, and i'm looking foward to the winter when the run is only half as far to reach grouper, snapper, and nice seabass.
Good to hear from you ron, and good luck this fall. I hope you tear them up. It's time for the trout to get rolling, so get your livewell full of shrimp and break out the popping corks.
