That's the first time I've ever heard it. Anything is possible though I guess.

Yes , cought a few that way myself ! On spinners it was more of a surprise than a jig .
It seems it was always on a yellow with black spots Mepps lure , always near the bank where the reeds grow .

I had never thought of a carp being an ambush preditor but I guess a meal is a meal when your that big .

What lake you fishing ?

I've fished the Huron from Lake Erie up as far as Belleville , mostley for steelhead . The Huron is a fishery unto itself , hog bass in some areas , big slab crappie in others , channel cats and gars lurking in the backwaters , every fish you could imagine can be found in one section or another .
The lower streches of the Huron have some great places to bowhunt carp , that's a thrill .
I had one carp that was sitting in the reeds as I waded by ,it scare the crap out of me , 40 pounds best guess , dropped my bow I was so startled . It kicked up one heck of a wake and hit my leg , I thought a snapper had gotten me for a split second .
I have targeted carp on a few fishing trips , just for the fun of feeling all that power they have !
How long did you have yours on ? My longest battle was a half hour and it stripped the guts out of my reel .
