I have a friend moving over from the Boise area. He hunts bear quite a bit over there with quite a bit of success. Just wondered what it was like in eastern Idaho. I've only run into bears a couple of times in eastern Idaho.

From my experience, it is pretty good if you can keep the dog hunters out of your bait. The best advice I have is to find a draw away from many roads and get a bait started. It may take 2-3 weeks to get any action on the bait, but once you do, you will be plenty busy keeping your site baited. Tell your friend good luck for me and let me know how it goes.

He hasn't moved over here yet, so he's hunting above Anderson Ranch this spring. I hear you on the dogs--someone had theirs out this past weekend and screwed up his son's bait site. I'll give him the info in case he ends up hunting eastern Idaho this fall for a bear.
