Owyhee Reservoir Report
#1
I took my family to out last weekend to Owyhee Reservoir and had an absolute ball. The bass fishing was the best I have had for quite a while. We caught an even split between large and small mouth bass. Several were over three pounds. We caught them best by using light colored crankbaits casting next to shore and then jerking back. We also caught 2 rainbow trout using the same technique. One trout was 18 inches and the other 18.5. They were really nice fish. We also caught and kept more crappie than we should have. I have a hard time thowing a crappie back so I didn't. The campground was great as well. Lastly I have never seen such a great landscape. The ruggedness is something to behold. I was suprised how close it was to Boise. It only took about 1.5 hours to get there from the Boise area.

Good luck if you go.

Think a day pass is around $16.

A two day license was $22.50. My dad who lives in Meridian bought a one year out of state license which costs about $70.00. Looking back on it I most likely should have gone that route.

Thanks, it's a ways to go from twin falls but the fishin always sounds great[cool] I would be fishin from a pontoon with an electric motor, so I can explore around to some before the battery dies[crazy]

If you bring a fly rod you are going to have to fish the river down below the dam. Wow!!! Huge browns.

Good Luck

The browns were hitting a midge fly.
