Scofield Report 6/24
#1
Went to Scofield today. Got there around 4 pm and the wind was blowing like crazy. Let the kids play in the water and finally rigged up their poles at around 6ish. Wind died down at around 7:30 and I decided to soak some garlic powerbait while I started a fire for hot dogs.

Came back and powerbait was still on the hook. I heard lots of good stuff about that garlic powerbait and I've never caught a thing on it, I'm starting to think someone told me that as a joke.

Put on a plastic minnow as I saw some bigger fish thrashing around in the shallows, minnow did no good. Saw lots of mosquitos though, so I switched to a bubble with a fly and that did it. Pulled 2 fish in about 20 minutes, both about 14-15 inches. Was time to go about now, so we came home. Didn't have a cooler for the fish, so all fishies were sent back to be caught another day.

Will probably go back in a couple of weeks for an overnight trip

Sorry no pics, only have film camera.

Thanks for posting your report Nica. I've never heard of Garlic powerbait but I have heard of Garlic cheese working good. WH2

It was actually on BFT that someone asked where they could find some, hard to find I guess. I just happened to be at Wal-Mart the next day and they had one bottle of it, haven't seen it since.

By the way, I was near Madsen bay at scofield and it was well after 8 pm that I finally caught 'em. Will be there again this weekend with the fam. There are tons of minnows around there and after the sun goes down they just go nuts and start jumping out of the water.

When minnows start jumping out of the water like that, it usually means there are bigger fish chasing them. If you tie a rapala on about the same size as the minnows, you should be able to pick up some of those fish. Good luck on your next trip. WH2

I have an F7 and a CD7, would you recommend the sinking one or the floating one? I think I may have to buy some 5's, the 7's might be just a tad big.

Thanks for your help again

It depends on the size of the minnows but I think a f5 would be best. WH2
