SALEM, Ore.-The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet Feb. 9 at the Seaside Convention Center, 415 First Ave., Seaside.

The commission is expected to give ODFW staff further direction regarding a process for reviewing the Oregon Administrative Rules for elk-ranching licensing. At last month's commission meeting, ODFW staff was directed to provide recommendations about the scope of issues to be considered during rulemaking, the stakeholders to participate in the process, and a time frame for staff to return to the commission with recommended rules.
Also on the agenda are several requests that may generate rulemaking actions. The commission will be asked to adopt rules to implement a crab pot limitation program for the commercial ocean Dungeness crab fishery. ODFW staff will ask the commission to permanently adopt rules establishing gear and harvest restrictions to reduce commercial and recreational wastage of the razor clam resource. As a follow-up to the recent Columbia River Compact meeting, the commission will be asked to adopt modifications to permanent rules for Columbia River commercial and recreational sturgeon and spring chinook regulations.
