a frozen lake and a big pike!
#1
Dam i forgot to log in lol please delete this first one
thanks

I went out for perch a while back. After getting to my destination
on my lake. I drilled a few wholes set up the shack and started landing the perch. I was smack on the hot spot last year. Not bad i thought to myself for using my memory and no GPS or land marks.
So after hammering about a dozen 12-14inch jumbo perch. I watched my ice rod tweak and bend another time. This bite was different than a perch vibe! So i set the hook and started to reel. But dam i wasnt even moving this BIGFISH must be big! And plus i only had lite gear line ect for panfish!
So i managed to play him out for about 15 mins long mins good thing the drag and the reel was working well or i would have lost him forsure.

Finally after battling this fish for about 20mins i got him turned upwards towards the hole and almost up the ice hole a few times. This pike was tired and soon enough i seen a swirl and wide snout break the surface water in the ice hole. So i drove my arm and hand in grabbed him by the gill plate and drug him up on the ice. He was biG!!! A good 22 -25 pounds of northern pike.

When looked at his hugemouth and teeth he had about a dozen britely colored panfish hooks embedded in both sides of his trap. Really nice ones so i started extracting them quickly. I took every one out and let the big pike go as fast as i could. He gave me the fight of a life time and a bunch of newer slightly chewed pan fish hooks so hell why not let him go?
I got 14 new various perch hooks outta the deal my New pal. Some a lil dull and rusty and chewed. I like thos hooks and keep them for memory sake.
Who knows maybe when i need a few new panfish hooks he will help me out again. I highly doubt it but hey ALL AND ALL IT WAS GOOD DAY OUT ON THE ICE!

The end

Whats the most lures you ever caught out ice fishing ?

HAHA, what I would give to catch a fish with a bunch of hooks in his mouth. Cheap tackle if you ask me.

there ya go, first post deleted, and title edited so it dosnt say reply to guest.

I was ice fishing next to a tip up some 25 years ago, about 100 feet away,

I got a whale of a hit and about spooled my reel of its 4 lb test line.

I knew I had me a bigun... and tried as I might I could not get him to budge. he just sat there, and sat there and sat there for about 45 minutes. I was beginning to think he slipped it off in to the weeds, but it didnt feel like weeds.

about when I went to pull my line harder to see if I could get it to budge or break it ran again, that was when the tipup flag went up. and my line went limp.

so I started reeling like a mad man trying to pick up the slack before he got to the other side of my hole in to the weed bed for sure. I cought up with him and as soon as I felt preasure i started reeling in slow trying to tickle him in to my hole.

I got him to the edge of my hole and I could see his ugly face when all of a sudden there rose such a clatter... ok a big jerk, it was about that time when the man at the tip up decided he was going to pull his pike in, or should I say my pike in, I had him on the line first, LOL,

I went over to where the guy was pulling in his fish, and I told him I had him first and I wanted my lure back when he got the 32 inch pike in. Every one standing around, (there was about 20 guys) all looked at me like I was stupid.... I told him what my pimple looked like, 5 minutes later when he finaly got his pike in it had my lure sill in its mouth and a good half dozen others. three of them belonged to three other guys standing there....

one guy whipped out his tape measure and sure enough it was 32 and a quarter inches long, about 12 pounds.

I doubt I would have ever gotten him up through the little six inch hole I was fishing out of. But every one busted a gut when my lure that I had discriped to a "T" was hanging out the corner of his mouth.... and Yep I got my lure back.....
