The Grindstone City boat launch on Lake Huron in Huron County will be closed from July 24-27 for construction, according to Department of Natural Resources officials. Work will be done on the ramp to extend it further into the water to allow for safer and easier access for watercraft that use the ramp.
Plans are to re-open the ramp on July 28, providing there are no delays in construction. An alternative launch site is available at the Port Austin State Harbor. The Port Austin State Harbor requires an annual boat access permit, which costs $24, or a $6 daily permit.
The DNR is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the state's natural resources
for current and future generations.
