Fished mantua for a bit tonight. The ice is pretty crazy. I drilled one hole and it was five inches thick, drilled another two feet away and it was three inches. The surface has had some melt and refreeze and is very uneven. But there seemed to be plenty to support fishermen. Just watch for weak spots where it may get thin. I fished up shallow, 8 ft. Saw a ton of big trout cruising by but they didnt want what I had for them. My three year old loved watching the fish swim by the hole though. Talked to a guy who was catching largemouth in 15 ft. The heater ran out of propane and with the boy I figured I had better call it a day or maybee I would have figured out what they wanted.
