Went to Magic last saturday (sorry for the delay) and did OK. 4 of us got to the east side about 10 am and fished until 5pm. Caught multiple trout (30) but no size to them and 4 perch. The perch fishing has been very tough this ice fishing season on magic. Hopfully with all the water they have the perch will have a good spawn this year. We fished in about 15 ft of water and used jigs tiped with mealworms.

Thanks for the report. Were all of the trout rainbows?

If conditions continue to be favorable, I don't think it will take more than 2-3 years for big Magic Res perch to be numerous once again. At most places I fish the future looks much brighter than it has for several years.[]

Fished Magic last year. I loved it even though I only caught a couple of the jumbo perch. We have stayed local this year because of the now deceased mud lake perch and the pretty good sized cutts at Ririe. Thanks for the update. I really hope the perch come back. I love those jumbos

yep, all the trout were planter rainbows. I did catch 1 trout on another outing at magic that I think was a stealhead. He was 24 inches long and very bright.
